Overview

Brain Building Beats ("we", "our", "us") is committed to collecting only the information needed to operate this website and deliver requested resources.

The Beat Newsletter

The Beat is a separate, optional weekly email subscription for adults. We store your email, consent and confirmation dates, and subscription status. If you choose personalization, we also store birth months and years for up to six children, without names or exact birthdays. We use those fields to select approximate developmental stages when preparing each edition. This is content personalization, not a developmental assessment.

Confirm the email we send before your subscription or preferences change. Confirmation links expire after 48 hours. Re-submit the newsletter form and confirm to update your preferences; uncheck personalization to remove all saved birth months and years. Unsubscribe using any edition’s link. Unsubscribing removes all saved birth months and years and retains your email and unsubscribe status to prevent further sends. Contact our privacy address to request deletion of the remaining record. Guide requests and pilot registrations do not subscribe you to The Beat.

Cloudflare hosts subscription records and sends confirmation emails. Resend manages our newsletter segment and delivers weekly editions. Confirmed email addresses are shared with Resend; your children’s birth months and years stay in our database. Stage-specific text appears in the delivered email. Delivery records track attempts and provider acceptance, not opens or clicks. No newsletter is sent before confirmation.

Founding-family Pilot Interest

When an adult registers interest in the device pilot, we store their email address, submission date, and consent version in our Cloudflare-hosted database. We use this separate list to contact them about the pilot. No child information, microphone audio, or payment details are requested by this form. Registering does not reserve a device or create an order. Request removal by emailing privacy@brainbuildingbeats.com. We retain the interest record until you request removal or it is no longer needed for pilot recruitment.

Information We Collect

Guide delivery: When you request the free guide, we process the email address you provide solely to send that transactional download link. Request and delivery metadata may appear temporarily in operational email logs.

Interactive exercises: Timing scores and listening-game responses are calculated in your browser. Public exercises do not save a personal history. When a signed-in adult starts practice from a child’s dashboard, completed round results are saved to that child’s profile. These include beat counts, practice modes, replay counts, and estimated tap timing offsets, first answers, correct answers, replay help, challenge level, key, and curriculum version. Pitch-discrimination rounds include the compared tone settings and pitch gap. Syncopation rounds include tempo, reference-guide setting, timing offsets, omissions, and extra taps. Singing summaries include target notes, matches, pitch-error estimates, voiced-frame counts, hold time, attempt duration, range, and matching tolerance. Melody creation saves the chosen path without an accuracy score. We also save practice, coaching or check mode, caregiver assistance, whether an example was heard, and review dates with delayed-check outcomes. Parent-recorded projector observations and optional practice minutes are also saved.

Audio: The exercises generate sound in your browser. The pitch-matching exercise accesses your microphone only after you choose “Use microphone.” It analyzes short audio windows on your device to estimate pitch; it does not record, upload, transmit, or store microphone audio. Access ends when you stop the exercise, finish the round, hide the tab, or leave the page.

Parent Accounts & Practice History

We store the adult’s email address, child nicknames, and dated practice entries to provide a private family dashboard. Website game profiles use nicknames and do not ask for children’s full names, email addresses, or birth dates. Optional mobile account sync is described below. Sign-in uses an emailed code and an essential session cookie, lasting up to 30 days and renewed during continued use. Authentication records can include your IP address and browser information for account security.

Only an authenticated parent account can access its own profiles and history. App results describe short practice rounds, not developmental assessments. Projector observations are entered by the adult; no projector is automatically connected.

Keep practice history for as long as you find it useful. In the dashboard’s “Your family’s data” section, download your data, permanently remove a child and their history, or delete the entire account. Live records are removed on deletion; infrastructure backups and operational logs follow Cloudflare’s retention processes. Sign-in emails are transactional and do not subscribe you to marketing.

Mobile App Data and Optional Sync

The companion app saves child names, birthdates or due dates, routines, session history, learning progress and optional parent voice recordings on the phone. System backups may include app data according to device settings. File exports contain personal data; store and share them carefully.

Optional account sync saves a copy of the mobile collection to Cloudflare when an adult chooses to save it. This includes full dates and local learning history. Uploading voice recordings requires a separate opt-in. Signing in alone does not upload the collection. Mobile copies remain separate from website game scoring. The app stores its account session in secure device storage.

You can restore or delete the cloud copy from the app. Deleting phone data does not delete the cloud copy, other phones’ copies, files you exported, or newsletter subscriptions. Deleting the parent account removes its live mobile cloud copy as well as website account data. A restore keeps up to three private recovery copies on the phone; deleting a child or all phone data removes these local recovery copies. Infrastructure backups follow Cloudflare’s retention processes.

After a session, the app offers an optional box for reflections or feedback, with an optional voice note of up to 60 seconds. Nothing is sent unless you tap “Send and finish”. Sent feedback goes to the Brain Building Beats team to improve the experience. With it we store the session’s settings (the activity, its length, tempo and whether Bell was connected), a developmental stage label such as “Around 1 month”, and the app version. We do not send your child’s name or birth date with feedback. Feedback is stored in our Cloudflare-hosted database and is visible only to our team. Feedback written offline waits on the phone and is removed from the phone once it has been sent. To delete feedback you sent, contact us.

The app also sends usage events to PostHog so we can improve it: when an activity starts and ends (which activity, its length, tempo, whether Bell was connected and a developmental stage label), app opens, crashes, and actions such as saving a routine or a backup. Events use a random identifier for your installation. If you sign in for account sync, events are linked to your account's internal identifier, never your email. Events never include your child’s name or birth date, or anything you type. Feedback you send includes your installation’s identifier so we can understand it in context.

Website Analytics

We use PostHog to understand how the website is used, for example which pages are visited, whether newsletter and pilot forms are completed, and which practice activities are finished. Analytics runs without cookies or browser storage: PostHog counts visitors with a daily server-side hash. We do not record sessions. Before any event is sent, links are stripped of confirmation tokens, codes and email addresses. Events do not include your email address, child nicknames, birth details or anything you type. On parent dashboard pages only specific actions are counted, such as saving a practice round, never the content of the page.

How We Use Your Information

We use an email address submitted through the guide form only to fulfill that request. We do not add the address to a newsletter or marketing list.

Data Sharing

We do not sell personal information or serve advertisements. Cloudflare provides website hosting, security, and transactional email delivery and processes the information required to provide those services. PostHog processes website analytics events on our behalf, as described in Website Analytics.

Children's Privacy

The guide and exercises are intended for caregivers and educators. The site does not ask children to create accounts or submit personal information.
